What is proposed in this essay is an analysis of one particular theoretical tool of Furio Jesi’s, that of the “there is-not”. A mechanism closely connected to other fundamental Jesian theoretical cores, such as those of the “double Sophia” and, clearly, of the “mythological machine” – of which it represents a possible response. For this reason, it will not be possible to completely perimeter this dispositive without overflowing into the thematization of these other theoretical cores. What will be attempted to delineate in this work will be not only a gnoseological dispositive aimed at the study of myth or mythology – which is also and profoundly a study of the functioning of human language itself in its performativity – but, more than that, an important theoretical and ontological device that allows us to come to terms with multiple problems that we inherit from Western thought, opening in this way, a theoretical field with immediate practical implications, the radical consequences of which we may only be able to explore in the future.
