Reading Elisabetta Canepa’s book Architecture is Atmosphere. Notes on Empathy, Emotions, Body, Brain and Space proves to be not only extremely interesting but also highly evocative due to the strongly interdisciplinary nature of the subject matter and the approach oriented towards understanding architecture as an intensely lived and participatory experience. Going beyond functionality and conventional aesthetics, it allows us to explore other aspects of this subject—experiential, sensory, emotional—which are certainly more subtle, at times even invisible, but no less significant and appreciable for that.
